Facebook debut for promising author Joe
BUDDING author, Joe Graham, is making his mark in the writing world with his short stories, which are sure to grab the reader’s attention.
The Banbridge resident is so prolific, in fact, that he has his own website, where new stories are posted regularly.
One of his most recent pieces of work published on his website is called, ‘The Veil’. The story follows the emotional pain of a man after the death of his beloved girlfriend, Susan.
“Recently, there was a solar eclipse and the idea for the story came to me instantly,” Joe revealed.
“I ran into the house, grabbed my iPad, and the first draft of the story came into existence the following day.”
The 21-year-old began writing thanks to his grandfather – himself a writer – who has had a huge influence on him and the course of his life.
“I’ve always had a strong interest in reading.” revealed the wordsmith. “I read work from a wide variety of authors, from the classic Oscar Wilde, right up to Stephen King.”
The ever-so-modest writer decided to concentrate his efforts on short stories, after being told that they are the key to great writing.
“I’m not saying I’m a great writer, but I believe practice makes perfect – or near perfect anyway!”
The Banbridge resident has a few ideas in the making for more stories, and he is hoping to continue to publish on his website, in the hopes that his work will reach as many people as possible.
While writing is a passion of Joe’s, his day job is working as a videographer. While his occupation is not connected to writing, it has given him a keen eye to look out for ideas for stories.
When asked if he would ever be interested in writing a novel in the future, Joe explained, “I don’t really plan the length of my work, so one day a story might become a novel!”
